The second edition of Blood Eagle, a two-day metal fest is all set to be held in Pune on 15th and 16th October, 2016 and features a kickass line-up showcasing a slew of sub-genres. This initiative taken by Blood Eagle Events seeks to promote and provide a platform to bands across the country playing heavy or extreme music, thus enhancing the local metal scene in India. The line-up features Pune-based metalcore band Adamantium, with whom Indian Metal Scene recently had a conversation. Read here:
About the band: “Adamantium is a Progressive Metalcore band from Pune. Adamantium‘s music has a unique blend of heavy riffs, breakdowns and melodic ambient cleans with dynamic drumming and powerful vocals. After releasing our debut album ‘Kalopsia’ we are now working on some new stuff.
With no intention of forming a band, Kevin (Ex drummer) and Avadhoot started jamming to some new tunes and that’s when they were accompanied by a group of other musicians and that’s how ‘Adamantium’ was formed in 2010. After going through a lot of changes in the line up we now have Alok Acharya and Avadhoot Ket on the guitars, Girijith Sugathan and Kunal Gaikwad doing the vocals, Aditya Oke on the drums and Ajinkya Bhingardive on the bass.”
Perception of metal: “The band thinks our song writing style has a lot of powerful vocal lines and some fine drumming with a soothing progression of guitars in it. The band spends a lot of time with the instruments in the jam room and works as a team when it comes to writing new stuff. We feel our music and we see people go crazy to it in the pits and that keeps us going.”
Songwriting: “Our fans deserve honesty from us and so when it comes to song writing, instead of writing about fiction we decided to write about something that we’ve been through as a band and to which everyone could relate and would understand. When it comes to composing new tracks we sit together and discuss about the concept of the song and then start working on it accordingly.”
Ideology and lyrical themes: “Adamantium as a band has been through a lot of changes in the past and that gives us a perfect theme to write about. Our songs talk about the mental activities of a musician and how the world has a judgmental perception about him/her. The struggle that not just a musician but almost every individual around us goes through and could relate to.”
Influences: “We listen to almost all the genres whatsoever. It gives us a gist of how different the musical styles are and we grasp the things we like from it and try to create something on those lines as our audience will also get to listen to something different. We love Monuments, Pangea, Parkway Drive, Periphery, Animals as Leaders, Porcupine Tree and many other artists/bands. ”
Memorable experiences: “‘The Adamantium Army’ has been a great support and every time we hit the stage it becomes memorable in its own way however the album launch gig at Pune’s Blue Frog was something that we’d always cherish. We did enjoy playing for the Metal Nights at Hard Rock Cafe, Mumbai and also at Pune’s AFK during the Stormfest V and Blood Eagle Vol. 2 Pre Gig.”
What’s cooking? “There are a few things lined up already but the announcements will happen with time as we are awaiting a few confirmations. We might surprise you with some news. For Blood Eagle Vol.2, the band is planning a set with some of the old tracks and of course our new ones from the album. We assure you that it’s going to be a set that will leave you headbanging and moshing.”
Any message? “We’d like to thank each one of you for being so kind and supportive in our journey so far and we also hope this continues in the future. Also big ups to Indian Metal Scene for all their support and AFK for hosting such great events. See you at Blood Eagle Vol. 2!”
